Best way to handle a buffalo

Do you remove it from the U.S. Mint package and put in an Air-Tight or just leave it in the mint wrapper? Does the wrapper have any chance of containing PVC?

Thanks

Leave it out, touch it with bare hands, preferably after eating greasy pizza, and play heads-or-tails with it several times.

I leave all of mine in mint wrapping if still intact. Seems to be a super airtight seal. If ever I re-sold, this would be key. The ones that are loose, put in direct fit.

Re: Best way to handle a buffalo

Leave it alone in the packaging (after all it's only BULLION right?).

It's 24 PURE so the darn thing is soft like a MAPLELEAF - I've got too many of those all scratched up which were bought less than spot - so keep it protected.

You should leave them in the US Mint plastic wrapper. This way, when you have your boating accident, and the buffalos sink to the ocean or lake floor, whatever your reference, the barnacles will form on the plastic wrap and the coins will be protected. You see: the Treasury has anticipated every contigency!:ok:

I wasn't aware that PVC affected gold. Silver yes, but not gold.

As far as coins are concerned, I usually toss them in a bag with the rest of my rounds.

Concerning buffaloes, there was a guy near Absaroka, Montana a hundred years ago that had a pet buffalo he kept in a pen. He rode that beast bareback. The only way he could handle the beast was with a pitchfork in his hand. As long as he held the pitchfork, the buffalo respected him and let him do as he pleased.
One day he decided the buffalo was sufficiently trained and he hopped on it's back without the pitchfork....

That was the day the Montana buffalo rider died.

I know in the movies I've seen folks gnaw down on a piece...Ever see a coin/round with teeth marks in it HS?

The rarity of those must be worth a hefty premium! :sarc:

I was thinking of having the DENTIST make me a LITTLE

"H.S." mark so I could imprint

LIVING TO CRUISE's BUffalo with it.

Kind of a Chinese type CHOP mark in his Buffalo -

you know - something for the future...

The only thing you have to worry about with 24k is scratches and dings. Outside of aqua regia, basically no chemicals are going to affect it.

Actually I recently got a lump of 3.5g of pure gold, from computer scrap recovery - and just like an old-timey prospector I bit down on it! And yes, it will deform slightly if you bite hard enough....
